From the chair that sits in front of my desk I've turned to look out the window to see some pretty strange sites. Between weather and the neighborhood here, I'm forever entertained by the scenes in my very own Brooklyn.
Just now it's 12:30AM on Tuesday, and I'm up due to a red-eye flight from Minnesota and my compulsion to check email. Suddenly a sound like gun fire goes off to my right. I turn to see someone "getting rid" of their left over 4th of July firecrackers. The genius of this plot is that I'm pretty sure it's illegal to set them off any time other than the 4th of July in NYC. What's more is this particularly illegal-albeit beautiful- display is not easily hid. Nor can the perpetrators conceal themselves without a hitch. Hmmm big, bright, noisey, fire set off directly above your location. Someone thought this through.
Well Mazel Tov to them. It was lovely.
Flying home we hit some weather nearing the East coast. Not too bad. At first it was just flashes of light ahead and the right of the plane. And all of a sudden it was lightning bolts directly below the plane- illuminating the entire cloud mass. That scene below, the full moon above, made for quite a sentimental moment...I shared with the business woman next to me. Got a video of it...so I'll try to put it up.
Do tell us your stories of flying, firecrackers, firecrackers flying, flying while crackling fire, or dumb things you've witnessed. It's good to be back and I look forward to speaking with you all! I've missed you!
