Twist and Shout
Matthew Broderick made this song so famous it became INfamous. Yes it's so very very infamous ... the infamous Twist and Shout!
OK while some of you are shaking your heads, SOOO embarrassed for me, don't be. "Doesn't she know what that word means?" "I don't think it means what you think it means..." Ahhh life is a movie. Yes I know that infamous does not mean something is MORE THAN famous.
The clip above has inspired me to carry through a wish of mine. So many times when I'm walking around the city on those beautiful sunny days in New York City, it seems a happy sort of place. A place where I expect at any second someone is going to break into song, suspended by wires from the great Oak trees above, and all the random passers-by will stop what they're doing and join in the singing and dancing. Hot dog vendors, Chinese purse sellers, street artists, tourists, Japanese tourists, doormen, garbage men, window washers, business people alike will join in a united throng through-out the city... just a-Twistin' and a-Shoutin'!
Wouldn't life be great if that happened on a daily basis. Cold Stone Creamery has the right idea. Anytime a tip is left in their jar the whole place breaks out into melodious song... the oreos, sprinkles, bananas, and cherries get up and do a little fox trot on the counter! That's what I call happiness. Ice Cream and dancing condiments.
So next time we're in NYC wandering the streets let's break out in song and dance- EVEN if it's raining (it worked so well for Gene Kelley) !
