There are a few rituals I have that seem to prolong vacation mode. Since being back, there has been a rationing of the Cadbury chocolate to a few pieces per day. I flip through the pictures at least twice a day…recanting the stories to myself as if I was looking at them for the first time. Examining the faces and details in each photograph hoping that perhaps this will bring back the sensation of being there in person.
But I’m also affected by the smells that linger in the clothing we've brought back. For instance there are two articles of clothing that were washed at Adam’s house that have not been worn since . I’m saving them for one of those days when I just want to be taken back...when I’m in that mood that resembles homesickness. As soon as you place them on your body the scent fades and mixes with the smells of everyday life and the vacation is over.
....ha ha, do you like apples? HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM APPLES?!
