What Is It?

Recently at a Sunday Talk, we discussed the difference between happiness and joy. What it all boils down to is that only tangible things, things external from us can bring us happiness. However the deeper feeling of joy can only be experienced if we have a strong personal relationship with Jehovah.

Now with that being said, I know it would be the intellectual and deep thing to do to discuss in detail the meaning of joy. But I'm not going to. I'm going to discuss the more shallow and fleeting aspect of Happiness.

You've all seen the posters "Happiness is _______" (fill in the blank). And we've listened to the Beatles strum out "Happiness is a Warm Gun" and wondered, well if that's their happiness, then what is my happiness? I believe it was Peter Pan who coined the sometimes mocked "Happy Thoughts"...and they turned out to be things like cherries, marbles, teddy bears, presents, girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes (I know I'm melding my movies into one).

So then I stopped to think about it and my happiness is from so many things.
Happiness is reading someones' comments on a blog
Happiness is that perfect cup of coffee in the morning
Happiness is staying inside while it's raining
Happiness is a mix CD
Happiness is a sleeping baby in your arms
Happiness is a pair of green corduroy jeans 'zippin' as you walk
Happiness is discovering that iTunes offers TWO (2) FREE SONGS EVERY TUESDAY and not just one!!!

Happiness is.....
You fill in the blank.
