And So It Starts

It is now officially F-F-F-FALL!!!Or Autumn, if you will... The beginning of a season that I've always had mixed feelings about. It's when the glowing clothes of green trees peak in a bright and brilliant play of red, orange, and yellow... then a week goes by, maybe two, and that brilliance rusts into dry brown leaves in piles on lawns or in the gutter. And sunny warm days slowly lose their momentum and crawl back to a winter's pace.

The autumn is really great when you're an adult, because it means that the kids are back in school and your weekdays are back to a routine. Summer is fun for fun and for a change of scenery, but sometimes it's nice to have the comfort of knowing that you have something to do the next day, or a place to go. For those who pioneer it's also a renewal of the zeal that might've been waning during July and August's heat...not to mention all the vacation opportunities...and service takes on a higher quality- perhaps even quantity- in September. This is my favorite month-historically speaking :).

The one major annoyance of this time of year is that you can practically hear the shotgun go off for the marathon run through all the holidays. It started already. Did you notice? Every advertisement I received today and yesterday was somehow tied into Halloween. And the movies that come out this time of year so mimic this "most disgusting of all" holidays... I'm so glad I never felt obligated to celebrate any of them, nor was I ever inclined to WANT to celebrate Halloween in particular.

Moving on. Enjoy the beautiful changes of this season...have yourself some apple cider...knit yourself a sweater...jump in a pile of leaves...and enjoy!
