What a great word! I love that word!
As we were going thru the Keep Watch brochure for the Congregation Book Study, I couldn't help but feel it was all pretty elementary information. It's the first thing we learn, that we're in the last days and it's imperative that we keep on the watch. Of course, if we're determined only to look at the surface that's all we're going to get out of it...a superficial knowledge. However that's when something, a small point, jumps out at us, tweeks our curiosity, and forces us to peer deeper.
Moses recorded the account of Noah and the ark, and noted in Genesis 8:21b that the "inclination of the heart of man is bad from his youth up". Someone (and it very well could have been me) commented that it's the natural inclination of man to sin and to be selfish. But there's a correction to that statement...How was it that Jehovah originally made humans-prior to Adam and Eve's rebellion? He made them in his image(Genesis 1:26). And because God is Love (I John 4:8), our natural inclination, therefore, is NOT selfishness, but to naturally love others. Because of our imperfection, it has become a very UNNATURAL inclination to be selfish-just as death is a product of our imperfection, it too is unnatural.
But I liked how they wrapped up the brochure. Though there are things that fit together like having intense love for one another in this time of the end, we may take it for granted because we hear it constantly. Therefore as it was brought out at the Book Study, we really need to be binding together with love for our whole association of brothers, so as to bolster ourselves thru the end of this system of things that is so devoid of even natural affection, let alone principled love.
With that, I'd like to conclude with some neat pictures taken by Patty (a visitor we've seen around here from time to time) on her trip to New York these past couple weeks. Take a look!
