This was the start and end of our pioneer meeting with the CO last night. The point was to see if we're giving our all or if we're half-hearted in our ministry. The scripture at 2 Tim 2:3 was used to illustrate the point further. I honestly don't recall ever reading or discussing this scripture, but it talks about as a soldier of Christ, we must take our part in suffering evil. A soldier has to be committed because not only is his life but the lives of others around him are at stake- he must be focused on the battle at hand. If he were only to be involved-being distracted by things back at home, thinking about money issues, family, or what sort of fun and easy life he used to have- it could cost him his life or someone else's.
We can also give off the APPEARANCE of being committed when really we're only involved-illustrated by Ananias and Sapphira. The pioneers by title only are the pioneers who don't last long. The pioneers who stick with it and really work hard at their ministry to produce results are the ones who are committed.
And we discussed the poor widow who donated out of her want. She was a prime example of being committed...and though the Bible doesn't expand on the account, we have scriptures such as Ps 27:35, Matt 6:33, Mal 3:10, and Mark 10:28-30 to show that really she did not suffer for her self-sacrificing spirit. Jehovah gives such ones a return on their investments that is beyond what they imagine.
So just remember that while we may be a lowly pig, pig means:
Pioneering
Is
Great
Just thought I'd share that with you all. One thing he mentioned is that you don't have to be a pioneer to be committed to the ministry.
So should YOU be ' committed' ?
