Have You Hugged Your Kids Today?

Last night's bookstudy was described as a "hug from Jehovah". If we were feeling out of sorts yesterday, taking time to reflect on the information we considered at the bookstudy could really set us straight again.

Some of the points that I appreciated was the fact that Jehovah is keenly interested in us, that he values and is keeping a close eye on us. Jehovah, who concerns himself with taking note of what happens to one of the smallest (and sometimes deemed, least valuable) of creation, is even more concerned with thinking and loving humans. Jehovah goes so far as to take note of the number of hairs on our head. Considering that we lose 70-100 hairs a day and re-grow hair too, think of how closely Jehovah would have to monitor us to know how many hairs are on our head at any given time. Just illustrates how deeply Jehovah is concerned and cares about us.

The other point was in connection with Romans 10:15, talking about the comely feet of bearers of good news. While we know that the scripture is not suggesting that our feet are suddenly something beautiful to look at, but rather that it signifies the EFFORTS we make in connection with the preaching work.

So many times we are focused on what RESULTS we're getting from the ministry and because we don't always receive the results that we expect, we become discouraged which is a dangerous and self-condemning emotion. However in Romans, Jehovah says he's looking at our EFFORTS not at our RESULTS because the results are really Jehovah's department. He just requires we give effort...plant, water, Jehovah will make it grow.

Such a good chapter to keep ear-marked for those moments of self-doubt or discouragement. As I always say, be discouraged but don't stay that way. (Cheesy quote coming up) "Turn your stumbling block into a stepping stone." :)
