It’s amazing, this internet thingy….you type in a simple name like “Simon” and a million + websites emerge at your service!! There’s www.thesimon.com , which seems to be the webpage of a popular (yet I’ve never heard of it) magazine that deals with heavy issues of politics, morality, religion, etc… There’s www.angrysimon.com where you are given the chance to take a shot at Simon Cowell or (and I quote) “Take On the Man Himself, In a One-Round Free for All”.
There were sites for Carly Simon, for Paul Simon, for Simon and Garfunkel, and one that I can’t quite figure out the purpose of but I did spend a few minutes on, www.simonladefoged.com . My favorite was www.simonfoundation.org…it’s actually a site for the research and awareness of continence. So, yes, go there if you feel the urge to…donate something.:)
My point in this is that being that “Simon” is a name with so much opportunity attached to it; I was overwhelmed with things to say/do for my dear friend, Simon King.
But I figured that being that it is Simon’s day, he would want me to do a tribute to his most esteemed troubadours:
Lionel Richie- a different take on Easy
Aaron Neville - an early Aaron Neville Song (I wanted to find Crazy Love, but they don’t seem to have it online anywhere, at least not his version)
And I was gonna do Si’s favorite song, but for sake of …well that my mom and dad might check out the site…I opted for a different song , so here’s the next best thing by Marvin Gaye.
So now that you’ve been PROPERLY Simon-ized…it will be a contest to see who can find the most interesting SIMONish website.
GO!
